Fun in the sun

It's been H-O-T this week! Every afternoon when Audrey and I get home, it's the same routine: unload our bags, feed the dogs, grab the Cozy Coupe and head outside to the mailbox. Sometimes we drive, sometimes we walk. The front of the house is shaded in the late afternoon, so it's a perfect play spot as we wait for Dad to get home.

Chris and I can't get over how old she looks in these pictures! Like a KID!

"Hello, Mister Postman? Wherez MY mailz?"

"Nothingz for me? I'll hold while you checks again."

Later in the week it got up to the 90's. It was so hot, outside recess was banned. Audrey lurves her outdoor playtime, so we stripped her down and busted out the hose!

Her new favorite sentence is "Uh oh!"

Love those blonde curls, nothing cuter than curls!!

Grandma and Grandpa bought her a water table this week! She was happily splashing around with it when I picked her up on Wednesday. It's the Step 2 Arctic Splash and she just loves it. I want to get her one for home, preferably one with an umbrella. Any suggestions?

First set of wheels

Chris started putting the car together a few days ago while I entertained Audrey outside. His drill battery died before he could finish it, so he hid it in the laundry room. On Friday morning she accidentally caught a glimpse of it and had a fit because she couldn't ride in it!

Chris got up early on Saturday to finish putting it together. I put a bow on top and waited as Chris got her from her room...

She was so thrilled!

She loves opening and closing the door, getting in and out.

It's so fun pushing her around the house. She laughs like crazy!

She's a one-handed driver already.

Her first trip was down to the mailbox and back. The only bad thing about the car...

is the hissy fit that ensues when she has to get out.

Landscaping!

My Mother's Day gift was landscaping for the front yard. I call this "Phase 1." Chris has a grand idea of what the end result will be and it includes some kind of rock wall, which is where I get lost. All I know is that I love the way it looks now...the two dwarf trees, the gorgeous rose bushes and day lilies! My absolute favorite plant hasn't bloomed yet though...the hydrangea bushes. I can't wait for those. We have 2 right next to the porch stairs. I took some pictures today:

I don't have any close-ups of the yellow lilies because there weren't any in full bloom today. I had taken a bunch yesterday but when I came in to upload them, they had vanished from my camera :( There was a super cute pic of Audrey trying to eat one of the lilies. Bummer!

Audrey loves being outside. She especially likes climbing the stairs, then going back down.

She's shown a real interest in balls lately.

I just love her laughing smile!

I took the day off since we had originally planned to go to WVA for a family reunion. But Chris has to work tomorrow and I had already scheduled my Dr appt so I spent the day with sweet Audrey Cate. The weather was so lovely and a great reminder that summer break is 4 short weeks away!

A New Game

Audrey has discovered that she can maneuver herself underneath the coffee table to play hide-and-seek. I absolutely love the look on her face when she's surprised!

It was a great weekend. We had dinner at our friend's house on Saturday night. Audrey loved playing with M (she's 2 1/2.) M has the coolest toys, it's always fun to go over there and see what Audrey gravitates towards. I ended up ordering a Little Tykes Cozy Coupe this morning. Audrey just loved M's and had a FIT when we had to leave. I can't wait to see her face when she gets it. She tried french fries last night for dinner and loved them, Goldfish crackers, too. So that's what she had for dinner. Tonight she had spaghetti. At first she just swung the noodles around (one in each hand) cowgirl style....noises and all. Then she put one in her mouth and decided she liked it. She was a mess afterwards :)

There are 5 weeks of school left. There are a zillion things to get done at school, even more at home. Time is going by too fast these days. I am really excited for things to slow down so I can just enjoy being with Audrey.

Mother's Day 2010

To Christopher, thank you for making me a mother to the most beautiful and precious little girl. To Audrey, thank you for being the angel you are. I never could have imagined such a tiny person could change my whole world. I love you so much, more than life itself, and would give anything to make you happy.

We went to Mimi's Cafe for breakfast and waited FOREVER! Note to self: make reservations next year. We fed Audrey some of her breakfast right in the waiting area.

Thank goodness for the iTouch! It's a lifesaver for when she starts getting antsy. The best part is that she can work it herself!

Yummy popsicles!! I found these mini-pops and they are slow-melting as well. Perfect for her.

Great week!

An amazing, fun, exhausting week! The 2nd graders performed the Spring musical and it was the absolute best performance ever. It brought tears to my eyes. I was so proud of all of my kids but especially the ones that took a chance and chose to memorize speaking parts. They stood up and delivered their lines beautifully. That alone made me weepy, but then, at the end, the lights were turned off and they held electric candles and sang, "This little light of mine...I'm going to let it shine..." It was too much!!!! The entire program had a great message about being happy with yourself, finding your place in the world, and letting your light shine. Pretty much sums up my wishes for these kids. It was Teacher Appreciation Week and I received all sort of sweet gifts; flowers, cards, chocolate, even lunch!

Chris brought Audrey to the Thursday night performance. She got to play on the playground for the very first time:

She got to play with the kids as they arrived for the performance. They had a serious amount of nervous energy built up, so I played "Down" (our favorite Friday Freeze Dance song!) and we all busted a move as we waited to get called down for the performance. Audrey LOVED watching them dance, she sang along and clapped. Such a fun memory!

Hooray for an awesome week!
