I think it looks fabulous with the green walls. Now comes the fun part...decorating!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Nana!!
My mom is buying us my dream stroller, the Stokke Xplory!! We're getting it in turquoise:

I love how high and how close the baby will be. We're going to get the car seat adapter so that it can also be a travel system. I cannot wait to push Baby Burns around in it :) This is literally my dream stroller- a few weeks ago I had a dream about pushing a little boy around in it...it was meant to be!

Scary...
I was letting Eddie & Zoe out yesterday afternoon in the backyard when I hear our neighbor (behind us) yell my name. He said that there have been bobcat sightings on our street and his wife heard it screaming the other night in the woods next to our house. WTF?? Now I'm completely paranoid about having the little dogs out in the yard. I stand out there during the day and at night (or early in the morning when it's still dark) I walk them one at a time on a leash. What would I do if it attacked? I'm thinking about carrying the baseball bat with me. God help that cat if it gets near my babies!!
Ok, I seriously doubt I could take one of these, and I hope that my presence will keep it away. Until then it's top security it our backyard!!

What a great day!
We had a great 4th of July. It started when I woke up at 8:00 and the nursery was painted!! Chris had gotten up at 6:30 and put the first coat on. After breakfast he put the 2nd coat on. I really love it! It's a bright, fun color:
The weather wasn't looking good so we went to the movies (where I devoured a bag of popcorn!) and saw Hancock. It was pretty funny. Then we went over to the in-laws and hung out by the pool. That's where we got some exciting news!! Cathy really wants to babysit. I am so relieved. I had a very good/reliable sitter in mind for daycare, but NOTHING could beat my mother in law taking care of Baby Burns. She is the most amazing person, very patient and easy going...the baby is going to be very lucky with her! And I think it will make going back to work much easier on me knowing that someone I love is with the baby while I can't be.
She also ordered the crib today! It should be here in just a few days. Our dresser came in just 4 days and I can't wait to start putting it together. We are on the ball! I'm happy to be getting all this done while I have the time and energy.
So overall it was a fantastic day. Happy 4th to everyone!

Can't beat the real thing
Remember that slogan by Coke? I find myself craving it lately...mostly it's when I'm out running errands or when I go out to eat. I need to have a coke (a fountain coke) to drink. I'm hoping it doesn't last too long! Caffeine and sugar=no good for baby.

Painting has begun!
Unlike with the rest of the house, Chris let me help paint! I cut in around all the base boards and door frames. I did not give him enough credit for painting the house...it's hard work! I'm tired and sore. Since it was getting late he decided that he'd roll the 2 coats tomorrow, or maybe Friday. I'm just glad we got the hard part over and done with :)
I can't wait to see what it ends up looking like. The color is a little dark, kind of bold, but I like it. I think it's going to contrast nicely with our white/cherry furniture. Now I need to wash the paint from underneath my nails...I made a mess (thank goodness for the drop cloth, and a patient husband!)

Nursery
I've picked up the paint for the nursery (Dill Pickle by Benjamin Moore) and hopefully we'll get the room painted this week. I also ordered the matching dresser to our crib:

I was going to buy a cheaper dresser/changing unit, but I think this dresser will grow with Baby Burns. I also ordered cute polka dot sheers for the window:
Now I just need a double rod and solid white curtains. I also need to order a glider/ottoman and small night stand. Then comes the fun part... accessorizing! We'll see how all the furniture looks and then go from there. We may have everything done by August, which I'm so happy about :)

Finally, a baby dream!
A long time ago, before we got pregnant, I had a very cute dream. I was bathing a little baby boy and afterwards I laid him all wrapped up on our bed. As I unwrapped the towel to put a diaper on, I saw a sly smilie on his face. I said, "Don't you dare!" and laughed. As son as I unwrapped the towel, he squirted straight into the air!! I hit the floor and laughed so hard...then I woke up!
Since then I haven't really had any baby dreams (at least none that I can remember.) Chris says he has them almost every night, lol. Well last night I had a dream that I was pushing a baby boy around in a stroller...it was the Stokke, and it was turquoise blue. And we were in a bedroom. I was just pushing him around and he was laughing! It was very entertaining to him. Anyways, it was rather exciting! I'm wondering if I'll have any girl dreams??

I love him!
I've been loving some Kit Kats recently. I asked Chris to pick me up one on his way home from work one night. He came come with a bag and explained that they didn't have any. "The store manager was searching through boxes trying to find one!" I was about to have a pity party when he pulled out a Crunch bar, Mr. Goodbar, and Reese's cups. "I hope these are ok instead!" I was delighted :)

12 weeks

Yawn.
Yesterday's appointment was BORING. As soon as we walked into the room and didn't see an u/s machine, we were bummed. We did get to hear the h/b....which of course is very cool every time we hear it. Danielle (the nurse) says it sounds like a girl! Chris and I both think it's a boy though. Dr. K came in and did a quick exam then asked why I was losing weight! Trust me, I have been eating food like it's my job! I must have just had a light lunch b/c while I may not have gained weight, I didn't think I'd lost some! Let's just hope I stay on the healthy side of weight gain...not too much, not too little. We want Baby Burns to be nourished in there!
Next came the disappointing part. In 4 weeks I go for a blood test to check for Downs, and other diseases. Then 4 weeks AFTER THAT we get another sonogram. Ugh, I don't know how I'm going to wait 8 weeks to see the baby. On the bright side it'll make the summer drag by :) I'll have plenty to keep me busy: summer school, the wedding, Maine, the nursery. I hope Baby Burns stay nice and safe in there.

Appointment tomorrow!
What a looooong 4 weeks it's been! Tomorrow we're supposed to hear the h/b in the doctor's office. I feel like we kind of cheated since we've already heard it several times with our doppler. What I'd really love is a sonogram! Baby Burns is probably looking like a real baby now, as opposed to 4 weeks ago when he/she looked like a snowman :) I'm so glad tomorrow is almost here.

Forget your traditional children's books...
This is what I'll be reading to our Audrey: What Would Audrey Do? Timeless Lessons for Living with Grace and Style.
I saw it at Borders the other day and snatched it right up!

Found it!!
I just tried again and found the heart beat! 3 different times, only for about 10 seconds each time though. I can't wait until Chris gets home so we can listen together!
Doh!
So, we bought a doppler from Amazon.com. I hate waiting in between doctor appointments, so I though hearing the baby's heartbeat anytime we wanted would help. It came yesterday and we tried it last night. We thought we found it...it sounded like a heartbeat! Apparently it was mine :( I knew it was too slow to be Baby Burns. We'll try again tonight, but I feel so silly for being all excited...about my own heartbeat, lol.
I found a cool video on YouTube of what he or she should sound like. It's also the same doppler we have:

Last Day of School
I can't believe it's come and gone. I was fine yesterday. I even made it through my end of the year motivational speech- "I'm so proud of you, you've been the best class, good luck, etc." But as soon as the kids started hugging me good-bye I lost it! I hate crying, but I couldn't help it. I've had the most amazing group of kids this year. We all bonded so much. Will I ever have a class this wonderful? I hope so. Chris swears I said the same thing about last years class, lol.
I start all over again in July. I'll have 17 kids in my summer school class...eek! I do have a para, but that's a huge class for summer school. By the time that's over I'll be ready for a break (yaaay Maine!) and 18 weeks pregnant!! Until then I plan on packing up my room, finishing my records, swimming, and relaxing.

Last week of school!
I'm sure it's going to be crazy and fly by! I'm ready for a break, but I am going to miss my kids so much. It's been a great year with them. I'm doing summer school in July and by the end of that I'll be ready for another break :) Hopefully we get to go to Maine in August. Ever since my parents separation, we don't vacation there anymore. We tried it once with dad, but it just wasn't the same. We skipped it last year and went to Disney instead. That was fun (although HOT) but there's nothing like Maine on the lake in August.

Some fond memories of Maine:
Fishing off the dock w/Craig & Kelly: circa 1990
Scott's love of the seagull!
Chris and I
Scott & I on the boat!
No water skiing for me this year...
I'll have fun watching Scott, who could ski for MILES!

I told my kids!!
I WISH I had recorded their reactions...it was so funny! At the end of the day I gave each table group a brown bag. Inside were the cut up words, "Mrs. Burns is having a baby!" I told them that I had a special message for them and that to find out what it was they had to work as a table group to put the words in a sentence. It took about 5 seconds! There were gasps, teary eyes, grins, shock. Emma came up and rubbed my belly....Christopher gave me a hug. The rest of the kids jumped up and down and held hands.
I was overwhelmed & touched by their reactions...they were so excited! I love them so much and I'm so happy I shared the news with them. Luckily there were no scary questions, "How do you get pregnant?" or "Where do babies come from?" I knew better and told them during the last 10 minutes of school ;) It feels more real now that I've told them. They are such a huge, wonderful part of my life, and it was hard keeping it a secret!!
For reals??
Is this actually true?

A digital USB pregnancy test...what will they think of next??

Baby Burns is looking good!!
I am just amazed at how much the baby has grown since we got to see the h/b 2 weeks ago!! A huge head, arm & leg buds, a tiny h/b between 150-160 bpm. It was so cool!! I was hoping to see some somersaults, but Baby Burns was still. I can only imagine how much better it's going to be each time we go....the baby will be bigger & more active.....I can't wait!!
We go back in 4 weeks to hopefully hear the h/b. I don't know if there will be a sonogram, but I'm excited either way!!!
