Last Day of Summer School...and 18 weeks!

Today was the last day of school and I'm so glad! It was fun, but rough at times. I had a big class and some even bigger personalities. It'll be interesting to see which kids end up in my room next year! I'm looking forward to the next 3 weeks of some R&R and by then I'll be ready to dive back in. I'm really excited to see my darlings from last year...I bet they've gotten so big!

So today I am 18 weeks. Very exciting b/c I *should* be able to feel the baby soon. I've noticed that my stomach has really popped and it's quite hard (except when I'm laying down, where does my uterus go? Lala Land?) I took a picture today to capture my lovely bump:

Chris is starting to get in some "belly bonding" and it's very cute. I've been wearing a bella band with my regular pants and so far it's been working out nicely. I expect to do some major maternity shopping when school starts :)

I am so getting one of these!

Hospital gowns make you feel more naked than when you're actually naked. At least these are fashionable!

Zoe is already taking the baby's toys...

She's in love with this alligator rattle and goes for it every time we're in the nursery.

1. She makes a beeline for it...

2. Looking at mom for permission:

3. Air Zoe!!

4. Score!

Luckily, I have another one :)

Thank you Aunt Caroline!

We got a package of awesome gifts yesterday from our good friend Caroline...look at all these goodies!

A polka dot blanket, nursing pads & lotion, Palmers lotions, Tums, and a book! It was so sweet of her to think of us :) We love you!!

Ouch!

Lots of cramping going on lately!! And every time I get up I get a pulling feeling in my belly, down low. I know it's just everything stretching out. Baby Burns, you grow and stretch as much as you want!! I can't wait to feel you moving around in there! In a few days I'll be 17 weeks, and the baby will be the size of an onion:

I'm impatient

I'm 16 weeks and I really want to feel the baby move already! I've been reading that while it's still early, some women do feel it at around this time. But it could happen anytime in the next 4 weeks. Sometimes I lay still and poke at my belly, lol. I just can't wait to see what it feels like! It will be even better when Chris gets to feel Baby Burns :)

Nursery furniture is done!!

Chris did a fantastic job of putting our crib and dresser together!

I think it looks fabulous with the green walls. Now comes the fun part...decorating!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Nana!!

My mom is buying us my dream stroller, the Stokke Xplory!! We're getting it in turquoise:

Xplory stroller : orange
I love how high and how close the baby will be. We're going to get the car seat adapter so that it can also be a travel system. I cannot wait to push Baby Burns around in it :) This is literally my  dream stroller- a few weeks ago I had a dream about pushing a little boy around in it...it was meant to be!

Scary...

I was letting Eddie & Zoe out yesterday afternoon in the backyard when I hear our neighbor (behind us) yell my name. He said that there have been bobcat sightings on our street and his wife heard it screaming the other night in the woods next to our house. WTF?? Now I'm completely paranoid about having the little dogs out in the yard. I stand out there during the day and at night (or early in the morning when it's still dark) I walk them one at a time on a leash. What would I do if it attacked? I'm thinking about carrying the baseball bat with me. God help that cat if it gets near my babies!!
Ok, I seriously doubt I could take one of these, and I hope that my presence will keep it away. Until then it's top security it our backyard!!

What a great day!

We had a great 4th of July. It started when I woke up at 8:00 and the nursery was painted!! Chris had gotten up at 6:30 and put the first coat on. After breakfast he put the 2nd coat on. I really love it! It's a bright, fun color:

The weather wasn't looking good so we went to the movies (where I devoured a bag of popcorn!) and saw Hancock. It was pretty funny. Then we went over to the in-laws and hung out by the pool. That's where we got some exciting news!! Cathy really wants to babysit. I am so relieved. I had a very good/reliable sitter in mind for daycare, but NOTHING could beat my mother in law taking care of Baby Burns. She is the most amazing person, very patient and easy going...the baby is going to be very lucky with her! And I think it will make going back to work much easier on me knowing that someone I love is with the baby while I can't be.

She also ordered the crib today! It should be here in just a few days. Our dresser came in just 4 days and I can't wait to start putting it together. We are on the ball! I'm happy to be getting all this done while I have the time and energy.

So overall it was a fantastic day. Happy 4th to everyone!

Can't beat the real thing

Remember that slogan by Coke? I find myself craving it lately...mostly it's when I'm out running errands or when I go out to eat. I need to have a coke (a fountain coke) to drink. I'm hoping it doesn't last too long! Caffeine and sugar=no good for baby.

Painting has begun!

Unlike with the rest of the house, Chris let me help paint! I cut in around all the base boards and door frames. I did not give him enough credit for painting the house...it's hard work! I'm tired and sore. Since it was getting late he decided that he'd roll the 2 coats tomorrow, or maybe Friday.  I'm just glad we got the hard part over and done with :)

I can't wait to see what it ends up looking like. The color is a little dark, kind of bold, but I like it. I think it's going to contrast nicely with our white/cherry furniture. Now I need to wash the paint from underneath my nails...I made a mess (thank goodness for the drop cloth, and a patient husband!)

Nursery

I've picked up the paint for the nursery (Dill Pickle by Benjamin Moore) and hopefully we'll get the room painted this week. I also ordered the matching dresser to our crib:

I was going to buy a cheaper dresser/changing unit, but I think this dresser will grow with Baby Burns. I also ordered cute polka dot sheers for the window:

Now I just need a double rod and solid white curtains. I also need to order a glider/ottoman and small night stand. Then comes the fun part... accessorizing!  We'll see how all the furniture looks and then go from there. We may have everything done by August, which I'm so happy about :)
