Memorial Day Weekend

We were quite busy! On Saturday morning we went out to breakfast. Later that afternoon we went to a friend's 2nd birthday party, then I had a girl's night out at the movies. We saw SATC 2 at a brand new theater that opened up. It was nice to get out with friends, have a couple of martinis, and just relax. I couldn't help but muse over the fact that my purse didn't contain one baby item! No snack containers, diapers, wipes, sippy cups. It felt strange!

On Sunday we went swimming at Grandma's, where we got to see Sarah and Bella who were up visiting for the weekend. Cousin Skylar came over too! It's always fun to get the girls together.

Our sweet hula girl

That night we celebrated Teddy's 5th birthday at Sakura. Despite not having a nap all day, Audrey was great. We had cake and ice cream and Teddy opened his presents. We didn't get home until almost 10:00...phew! We all slept in on Monday and while Chris went to work for a few hours, Audrey and I headed back to the pool.

We got home around 3:00 and Audrey slept the whole way home, plus took a nap until almost 6! We had dinner, then played outside for awhile. Audrey got her first scraped knee, but didn't cry at all. She's pretty tough.

The hydrangea began to bloom this weekend. I can't wait to watch its progress over the next few weeks!

3 more weeks of school! (Plus 2 work days.)

Fun in the sun

It's been H-O-T this week! Every afternoon when Audrey and I get home, it's the same routine: unload our bags, feed the dogs, grab the Cozy Coupe and head outside to the mailbox. Sometimes we drive, sometimes we walk. The front of the house is shaded in the late afternoon, so it's a perfect play spot as we wait for Dad to get home.

Chris and I can't get over how old she looks in these pictures! Like a KID!

"Hello, Mister Postman? Wherez MY mailz?"

"Nothingz for me? I'll hold while you checks again."

Later in the week it got up to the 90's. It was so hot, outside recess was banned. Audrey lurves her outdoor playtime, so we stripped her down and busted out the hose!

Her new favorite sentence is "Uh oh!"

Love those blonde curls, nothing cuter than curls!!

Grandma and Grandpa bought her a water table this week! She was happily splashing around with it when I picked her up on Wednesday. It's the Step 2 Arctic Splash and she just loves it. I want to get her one for home, preferably one with an umbrella. Any suggestions?

First set of wheels

Chris started putting the car together a few days ago while I entertained Audrey outside. His drill battery died before he could finish it, so he hid it in the laundry room. On Friday morning she accidentally caught a glimpse of it and had a fit because she couldn't ride in it!

Chris got up early on Saturday to finish putting it together. I put a bow on top and waited as Chris got her from her room...

She was so thrilled!

She loves opening and closing the door, getting in and out.

It's so fun pushing her around the house. She laughs like crazy!

She's a one-handed driver already.

Her first trip was down to the mailbox and back. The only bad thing about the car...

is the hissy fit that ensues when she has to get out.

Landscaping!

My Mother's Day gift was landscaping for the front yard. I call this "Phase 1." Chris has a grand idea of what the end result will be and it includes some kind of rock wall, which is where I get lost. All I know is that I love the way it looks now...the two dwarf trees, the gorgeous rose bushes and day lilies! My absolute favorite plant hasn't bloomed yet though...the hydrangea bushes. I can't wait for those. We have 2 right next to the porch stairs. I took some pictures today:

I don't have any close-ups of the yellow lilies because there weren't any in full bloom today. I had taken a bunch yesterday but when I came in to upload them, they had vanished from my camera :( There was a super cute pic of Audrey trying to eat one of the lilies. Bummer!

Audrey loves being outside. She especially likes climbing the stairs, then going back down.

She's shown a real interest in balls lately.

I just love her laughing smile!

I took the day off since we had originally planned to go to WVA for a family reunion. But Chris has to work tomorrow and I had already scheduled my Dr appt so I spent the day with sweet Audrey Cate. The weather was so lovely and a great reminder that summer break is 4 short weeks away!
