You Make Me Smile

I heard the most perfect song, it's my new favorite song to sing to Audrey....Smile by Uncle Kracker:

You're better then the best
I'm lucky just to linger in your light
Cooler then the flip side of my pillow, that's right
Completely unaware
Nothing can compare to where you send me,
Lets me know that it's ok, yeah it's ok
And the moments where my good times start to fade

You make me smile like the sun
Fall out of bed, sing like a bird
Dizzy in my head, spin like a record
Crazy on a Sunday night
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold, buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Ohh, you make me smile

Even when you're gone
Somehow you come along
Just like a flower poking through a sidewalk crack and just like that
You steal away the rain and just like that

Don't know how I lived without you
Cuz everytime that I get around you
I see the best of me inside your eyes

You make me smile
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold, buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild

What a difference a year makes...

It was exactly one year ago today that we saw our beautiful baby in 3d for the first time:

That was an amazing experience that I still get excited about. I could not stop looking at her pictures and showing them off to anyone who would look. We were proud of ourselves for not finding out if it was a boy or girl, but we did have fun speculating. I was immediately in love but had no idea just how much deeper that feeling would be a year later. I never get tired of looking at my sweet baby and I wonder if that feeling will ever go away? I could stare at her for hours and I really think that even when she's older I'll stare at her with the same amount of awe as I do now. Today she is 9 months and I'm so very blessed to have her here with us, to kiss and hug all we want! That's way better than a picture :)

Happy 9 months, Audrey Cate!

Big Girl Car Seat...

I've been researching car seats and have found two that I think will work in my car (a 2-door.) The Combi Coccoro is small and made to fit smaller cars. It holds up to 40 lbs. and 40 inches. It's also super cute. The only problem is getting her in and out of the car while she's's impossible. I'm really going to miss taking her in and out of the base, it's much easier. That's where the Combi Zeus Turn is looking like a good choice. It rotates to make getting the child in and out much easier. I can have Audrey rear facing and get her out easily (well, as easy as possible in a 2 door.) Same height and weight capacity as the Coccoro. But in reading the reviews I'm finding that people think it's way too big and bulky and blocks their view of the rear window. Please recommend your car seat, or let me know if you have any experience with one of these seats. Thanks!

Row, row, row your boat

We took Audrey and Bella to the play park at the mall. They played in this cute little boat and I imagine if they could talk, their conversation would go something like this:

"Hey Bella, come join me in my boat!"

"Ummm, are you going to sing the whole time??"

"Let's go looking for pirates!"

"Wait! I think I hear some..."

"You take that side, I'll cover this side!"

"False alarm! It was only fishes."

"Hey, that kid is trying to get in our boat!! You better hold me back, Bella!"

"You're LUCKY she's holding me back, kid!"

"Hey Bella, watch me pretend to get sea sick..."

"Yeah, boats are pretty awesome."

Loving our sweet girl!!

Audrey has been crawling all over the place and trying to stand up all the time. Tonight she actually stepped up onto her PBK chair (which was thankfully backed up to the sofa.) She's already giving me grey hairs.

On her merry way...

Takes a knee...

She's up!

Getting brave, Audrey Cate!

Hanging out with her new Mickey Mouse!

Grandma and Grandpa took Audrey to Walmart yesterday. She got her little hands on hot pink toothbrush holder and apparently refused to let it go. I think I need to try this with a really nice piece of jewelry the next time I'm out with Chris!

These next 3 pictures describe Audrey perfectly...

Silly and uncontrollably cute

Thoughtful and sweet

Serious...and maybe a little pissed.

One week down, 38 more to go!

I had a really great week back to school with the kids. I have an awesome class that I'm really looking forward to bonding with this year. I'm so busy that I don't have time to sit around and mope about missing Audrey. Speaking of Audrey, she's getting her two top teeth very soon!! She's been very irritable, pulling at her ears and her gums are very swollen. Chris took her to the doctor yesterday morning to make sure it was in fact just her teeth. She's continues to be a great sleeper, though, going to bed around 7:30 and sleeping straight through the night. Gotta love that!

Us on the first day of school!!

Audrey has started pulling up on everything...her toys, her chair, the coffee table, her crib...EVERYTHING. Even doors and couches...Her newest favorite place is the back door leading to the screened in porch. She cracks up when the dogs bark and try to get inside: click here for the cutest video ever!

And click here for even more spastic laughter!!

And she's cruising! She'll go from her play table to the couch, from her PB chair to the coffee table. It's so fun to watch! And when she wants to sit down she does so very carefully. She's quite graceful for an 8-month old. She lets go every once in awhile, especially if you hold out your arms for her.

Watching Phineas and Ferb

I'm not sure why, but she's been crossing her fingers lately:

In a couple of weeks she'll be 9 months! Soon she'll be taking her very first trip to WVa for a family reunion. Then it will be time for her very first Halloween (still not quite sure what she'll dress up as yet!). Then it will be Thanksgiving...and then her 1st birthday. I just know these next 3 months are going to fly by!

Dance, dance!

It was only a matter of time before Audrey started shaking her groove thang. I mean, we've been dancing around and singing together since she was born! Not to mention that while she was in my belly I would crank up the music in the car so she could jam along. We need to work on her rhythm, but I think she's a natural talent :)

We're Famous!

These pics are on display at The Picture People in the mall. We had them taken when Audrey was 2 1/2 months. I always thought she was a model baby :)

It's Hokie Game Day!

Last Fall I bought Baby Burns a cute VT track suit. I figured that while it was quite boyish, a girl could wear it as well. When Audrey came along we dressed her up in the track suit for her first official game and I promised her that I would buy her a much girlier outfit come next football season. A few weeks ago Target put out their football clothes and I bought her the cutest little outfit!! It came with a VT turtle neck, but it was a little too warm for that!

This is a new face she makes...she crinkles her nose and breathes really loudly through her's the funniest thing ever!

Audrey back in January (2 weeks old!), watching her very first VT game!
