Abigail is ONE!
The day that Abigail was born was one of the best days of my life. I remember the overwhelming feeling of love when they said it was a girl and they let me hold her for the first time. She nursed for the longest time and then she got to meet her big sister. Audrey seemed very confused, lol. I know it was a lot for her to take in. I remember scarfing down pancakes as soon as Abigail was taken to the nursery- and then immediately feeling nauseous afterwards. I was taken to my recovery room where it dark, quiet, and so peaceful. I got to sleep for hours (and I'm pretty sure I feel asleep with a big goofy smile on my face!) That afternoon I got to spend time with Abby and we had a bunch of visitors. I was just so happy. The rest of the hospital stay was great. Abby and I were so well taken care of. She went into the nursery both nights and I took advantage of uninterrupted sleep.
Fast forward a year later and I feel so very blessed. Our sweet little cuddly baby is one! She's starting to walk and talk. She has a bright, beautiful smile and big blue eyes. I am so in love with her.
Happy Birthday, Sunshine!
Here's what's going on with Abigail: she's into everything! She doesn't seem to have a favorite toy, she just likes to tear things apart, lol. She has so many teeth, I've lost count. Her gums seem to be (severely) swollen all over the place but she's handing it like a pro! She takes two naps a day and sleeps all night long. She JUST started giving real kisses this week (awwww!!) She is still eating well (although she is starting to turn down a few foods like green beans.) I feel like she is very smart. The way she mimics is pretty incredible; for instance, if you give her a wipe she'll try wiping her own bottom. It seems like she's very in-tune with everything that goes on. If I had to predict what the girls will be like based on their personalities now, I think Audrey will be my free-spirited, more imaginative one and Abigail will be the more inquisitive, analytical, and serious one. It'll be interesting to find out!
I spent the morning taking her 12 month pictures and getting things ready for her party. I decided on a cherry blossom theme because they are in season, beautiful, and Miss Abigail herself is our sweet Spring blossom :) Most everyone we invited was able to attend, so we had a full house!
Sharing some pizza with Dad
Audrey had fun destroying her room
...and jumping on the bed!
She didn't mind getting passed around!
She didn't really eat her cake! Just liked playing with it, lol.
Happy Birthday, Abigail!

One year ago today...
One year ago today I spent the entire day blissfully pregnant and unaware that it would be my last day as a monther of one. Today everything around me is a reminder that I have not one, but two lovely girls.
It's amazing how much has happened in just one year! At exactly this time last year I was anxiously pacing between the office and the nursery, texting my SIL, all while getting things ready for the hospital. I remember panicking because I had not at all expected to be giving birth a week early. But at the same time I was sofreakingexcited! This was a big moment...my water broke, it's time to go! Just a few days earlier we had been talking about how exciting that moment is- the not knowing when it will happen, and then when it does there's the excitement of rushing to the hospital. As nervous as I was, I was over the moon and giddy about meeting Baby Burns.
This was definitely more exciting than Audrey's birth story :) With her, we put our already-packed bags in the car, went to my appointment, walked the mall, then went straight to the hospital. This time I was frantically packing my last-minute items and for some reason feeling the need to tidy up the ENTIRE house before we left. The contractions were getting more intense and as drove in the middle of the night to Grandma's. I was thankful that it was so late (no traffic!) Finally getting the epidural after having a few contractions that made me whine like a baby. Trying to sleep once the epi set in, but not being able to because I was just too excited. Once again, giving birth was easy...just a couple of pushes and those awesome life-changing words, "IT'S A GIRL!"
My baby will be one tomorrow and I just cannot believe it!

Spring Break: Weekend Wrap Up
On Saturday Abigail raced in the Diaper Derby. It was kind of a last minute decision and I'm so glad we did it! It was so adorable to see all the babies. Abigail was #26. She didn't win her heat, but she finished...and isn't that what's important? ;)
#1!!
Yes, my child is still wearing her 3D glasses. Yes, she looks like Woody Allen.
I love when they hold hands! They were great cheerleaders for Abby!
Bella and Sarah came to cheer her on. It really was so much fun! We stopped by Grandma's house for a bit, then we were off to pick up Scott for the Circus!
Audrey was anxious at first (it was pretty loud) but then she totally got into it. She really loved it! Abigail was into it for the first 30 minutes. Then she just wanted to get down, or get up and walk around. I had her in the Moby so walking around with her was easy- but as soon as I'd climb the 50,000 steps to our seat, she'd start crying. I should've known she wasn't ready (she also hadn't had a good nap all day!) Oh well, I got to see the best parts- the elephants, the tigers (wow!) and all the other cool tricks.
By the time we picked up dinner, dropped off Scott and got home it was 8:30! Both girls went right to bed. Chris worked late and I was passed out before he got home. It was an exhausting day!
Sunday was perfect. I played with the girls and did things around the house. We went on a walk in the wagon and blew bubbles.
Spring Break came at the perfect time this year! I absolutely cannot wait for Summer :)
